12 Apr Gerardo Lubas III bags the lead at Metro Summer Event Day 1B; Vince Nachor wins Power Button
Another qualifying round done and dusted at the 2024 Metro Summer Event with 102 taking on Day 1B to bring up the cumulative entries to 267. Once again, Metro Team Pros and other decorated players were out on the hustle such as Lester Edoc, Czardy Rivera, Terry Gonzaga, William Ysmael, Jharome Pena, Benjamin Mangaliman, and MSE champions Moses Saquing and Joseph Sia. By day’s end, the field trimmed to 14 players led by Gerardo Lubas III who bagged a stack of 414,000. This puts Lubas second in the combined Day 2 list with Day 1A Lia Po Hsun with the slight edge.

For those that missed the mark or have yet to join the action, only three entry flights remain so head on over. The next one is Day 1C which kicks off today, April 12 at 2pm. Registration closes at the start of Level 11. From there on, it plays down to the money of 14% of the field. Buy in is PH₱ 11,000 (~$195). Players begin with a 25,000 starting stack which is a very deep 250 times the opening blinds. Blinds increase every 30 minutes then 40 minutes on Day 2 and the Final Day.
If you are just hearing of this event, the MSE is a homegrown Metro Card Club event, now in its seventh year. For this edition, the Metro has upped the prize pool, guaranteeing even more than its current record. That means big money awaits the champion!
Vince Nachor wins the Power Button after three-way deal
Another side event MSE champion crowned with Vivencio “Vince”Nachor rising to victory after a three-way deal. Nachor earned an ICM payout deal PH₱ 54,613 plus PH₱ 17,000 set aside for a total of PH₱ 71,613 (~USD 1,267).

Metro Tourney Most Valuable Player
Introducing the Metro Tourney Most Valuable Player award by the Metro Card Club! Beginning on January 2, 2024, Metro Card Club Members started accumulating points towards the Metro Tourney Most Valuable Player Leaderboard. Points could be earned through various tournaments and could be accrued daily. The deadline to earn points is December 16, 2024. By the cutoff, the player at the top of the leaderboard will receive an abundance of prizes including PH₱ 100,000, 4D/3N stay at The District Boracay, commemorative trophy, and a 1-year contract as a Metro Team Pro.
