RVS CUP crushes guarantee, draws 1,080 entries for ₱16.2 Million prizepool! 131 advance led by Hernan Villa

Weekend madness at the Metro Card Club as players poured in for the last two entry flights into the RVS CUP Philippine Poker Championship. Day 1D and Day 1E pulled in a combined 537 entries for a massive 1,080 total. This drove the prize pool to a record ₱16,200,000 (~$292,430) further solidifying the notion that this homegrown event is most beloved in the country. In addition, a combined 65 players advanced to Day 2.

With many decorated local pros yet to find their way into the money round, it was no surprise to see them scattered around the jam-packed room. In the aftermath, many still failed to advance including past RVS CUP champions, thus ensuring that a new champion will be crowned. On the flip side, among those that powered through were David Erquiaga (WPT champion), Christopher Mateo (APT champion), and Terry Gonzaga.

APT champion Hernan Jaybee Villa bagged the largest stack of 747,000, followed by Metro champion Jason Kyle Magbanua with 697,000, and to round out the top 3 was Metro champion John Francis King with 498,000.
