Suit up, Metro Summer Event ₱6M guranteed begins today! Leonel Edejer wins the Pre-Event

Summer has officially arrived with the Metro Summer Event kicking off today! The much awaited homegrown event is one of Metro Card Club‘s most popular events and for this edition, the guarantee is larger than ever, even larger than its current record. So get out of the heat and jump into the action! It’s time to earn your share of the  PH₱ 6 Million (~$106K) guaranteed prize pool. 

Metro Summer Event – Schedule and Structure

To get in on this pot, the Metro Summer Event runs April 10 to 15, 2024 with five starting days scheduled. Buy in is PH₱ 11,000 (~$195). Players start with a 25,000 stack which is a deep 250 times the opening blinds. The first four flights will see blinds increase every 30 minutes while Day 1E is a faster 20 minutes. For those that qualify to Day 2 and the Final Day, blinds increase every 40 minutes.. Each starting day plays down to ITM of 14% of the field.

Now entering its 7th year, the MSE has seen a consistent rise in players and prize pool. Last year’s edition smashed records, amassing a PH₱ 5.4 Million prize pool.  Well known Filipino / American player Moses Saquing took the crown and an ICM deal payout of PH₱ 1,257,705 (~US$ 22,630). This remains the largest MSE first prize to be awarded to any player in history.

Leonel Edejer wins the MSE Pre-Event

Preliminary games of the Metro Summer Event gathered a crowd of 209 entries for the Pre-Event ₱500K guaranteed. With buy in at ₱4,000 (~$70), the prize pool ballooned to ₱717,079 (~$12,700). The top 30 earned a cut with Leonel Edejer claiming the largest portion for his victory. After the three-way deal with Edejer backed by the biggest stack, he went on to win it to bump up his total earnings and pocket a career high ₱129,283 (~$2,285).
