01 Feb Pros light up PPT 2024 Day 1A as Ebilane Ericson sets the bar
The Metro Card Club season opener kicked off with a bang as Day 1A of the Philippine Poker Tournament (PPT) drew a full house. Among the 349 entries were some of the country’s most accomplished players, fresh from successful ventures abroad. While many managed to secure their spots for the next round, the ultimate spotlight was on recreational player Ericson Ebilane who emerged at the top of the 42-player survivor list.

A bit of background on the leader, while Ebilane may not boast numerous deep runs at the Metro, his did reach the final table of the Metro Summer Event 2022, after securing the overall Day 1 second stack. This proves his ability to make significant strides from a solid starting position.
Also bagging in the upper ranks were Francisco Patawi and Cristopher Runas. Down the rung were Metro Team Pros John Tech, Terry Gonzaga, Mike Takayama, and Metro commentator Jester Intia.

Up next is PPT 2024 Day 1B taking place on Thursday, February 1 starting at 2pm. For those just hearing of this event, now in its fifth year, the PPT is richer than ever with the starting pot set at a whopping ₱4 Million (~$71,000). That’s one million more than previous!
The PPT is a deep structured tournament with a 25,000 starting stack, equivalent to 250 times the opening blinds. With a big crowd attracted on opening day, we suggest for players to get to the Metro early to avoid waiting in long registration lines.
A new element has also been added, the 30 second Shot Clock will be introduced at the Final Table. Finalists will be given five time-banks of 30 seconds each.
