Jose Merlo Castro

Leading the chase are Jose Merlo Castro (62 bb) and Raymond Imperio (61 bb), both players near-even in chips, separated by one big blind. The pair have quite a lead over the rest of the pack.

Next ones down the rung are Metro Team Pros Czardy Rivera (39 bb), Jason Kyle Magbanua (31 bb), Terry Gonzaga (30 bb).

Jonald Garcia

Also in the lineup is Jonald Garcia who recently claimed his first WPT title on his first trip outside of home soil. Garcia enters with a healthy 28 bb. Janette Dee returns with 11 bb and will be looking to be the first female player to claim a Metro major.

PPT 2022 champion Maxwell Rosete also made the cut however it will be a hard grind with just 7 bb at kick-off. Rosete is the only PPT champion remaining.

When the players return, they are all guaranteed a minimum ₱28,700 and a seat worth ₱11,000 to the Metro Summer Event. What they will be aiming for though is the enormous ₱1,530,000 top prize. This is the largest PPT first place payout in history.

Final Table – Shot Clock and Livestream

A new element will be introduced at the final table, the 30 second Shot Clock. Finalists will be given five time-banks of 30 seconds each.

Jharome Pena – 2023 PPT champion

The Philippine Poker Tournament (PPT) is one of the Metro Card Club’s beloved homegrown event. Now in its fifth year, it is richer than ever with the prize pool soaring to an astounding ₱6,518,016 Million (~$116,500). This is a new record for the event.

In just several hours, the PPT will be crowning its newest champion and join these past winners:

Last year, Jharome Pena turned his ₱6,600 buy in into a career high payout of ₱845,940 (ICM deal)! Pena missed the mark in Day 2 but 2022 PPT champion Maxwell Rosete is still in the running.

This year’s title will be incredibly special as it is the richest PPT in history and the champion’s purse is a massive ₱1.53 Million!
