RVS Cup Pre-Event blasts open with 213 Day 1A entries; Royly Oracion tops 26 survivors

The Metro Card Club’s much awaited RVS Cup festival took off with a bang as the Pre-Event ₱1 million guarantee drew a sizable 213 entries. With two more flights to go and only 100 entries to meet the guarantee, the prize pool is poised to set a new record for this event!

The Pre-Event opening heat, Day 1A, saw no lack of notables battling it out. Among the attendees were past RVS Cup champions Marco Almerez, Richard Marquez, Metro Team Pros Joven Huerto, William Ysmael, Yatz Javier, and  recognized players Jeremy Catalig and Martin Gonzales. At the end of day, all of them missed the mark but will have two more chances to get back in the running.

By midnight, Day 1A wrapped up at Level 17 with the field cut down to 12% / 26 players. Filipino Royly Oracion aka Chip Blaze bagged up the largest stack of 427,000, equivalent to 71 bb. Also surviving the night were notables Emmanuel Segismundo and Niroshan Loganathan.

The Day 1A survivors have a day break before returning to action for Day 2 on November 12 at 2pm. They await the results of Day 1B and Day 1C (turbo flight) which both take place on Saturday, November 11 at 2pm and 7pm. If you aren’t one of the 26 players that has already advanced, then make your way to the Metro now. The pot is expected to surge over double for a new Pre-Event record!

Following the Pre-Event are three side events – Mixed NLHE / PLO (November 12), Mystery Bounty ₱300K guaranteed (November 13 to 14), Ladies Event (November 14). Starting stack is 20,000. Blinds increase every 20 minutes.

Attending all of these above-mentioned events are highly recommended in order to earn points towards the RVS Cup Player of the Series. The player that accrues the highest number of points by the end of the festival will win a package to the gorgeous island of Boracay. Package includes 4 Day / 3 Night stay at The District Boracay plus airfare allowance.

The most popular annual homegrown event, RVS CUP Philippine Poker Championship, gets underway on November 15 and will run through November 20. This is the most highly awaited event by the locals and expectedly so as the prize pool balloons every year. The largest was in 2022 with the pot increasing to over ₱7.4 Million. Now in its 9th year, it will no doubt be the richest with the guarantee boosted to a generous ₱10 Million. Buy in is ₱16,500.

Among the players certain to attend is defending champion Vamerdino Magsakay who collected a ₱1.6 Million payout deal for his victory. Other winners to expect are past champions Lester Edoc, Richard Marquez, Anacleto Quijano, Marco Almerez, Jeffrey Calma, and Christopher Chua.
