Metro Summer Event 2023

Record turnout at Metro Summer Event; 870 entries, ₱5.4 Million prize pool

Year after year, the Metro Summer Event has been one of the most highly attended poker events at the Metro Card Club, and it proved to be once again as everyone came out of the woodwork for the last two flights to pack the house.

Day 1D brought in a crowd of 213 entries and Day 1E another 122 entries to bring the total to 870 entries. This was the largest MSE turnout in history and it easily dusted the advertised ₱3.5 Million guarantee, amassing a richer ₱5,400,960 prize pool.

Day 1D: 36 advanced / 213 entries

Out of that massive turnout, only 171 players move on to Day 2 which means a big chunk will walk away empty-handed. For those that reach the money, the minimum payout is ₱12,800 and the maximum payout is a jaw dropping ₱1,440,000 (~US$ 25,770). The top 45 players will also be awarded a seat to the upcoming Metro Walk To A Million.

Day 2 gets underway on Sunday, April 23 at 2pm. Live updates will be running throughout. The goal is to reach the final two tables or play to the end of Level 27, whichever comes first. Leading in the pack is Day 1C chip leader, Taiwan’s Yan Ke with 121 BB, Victor Lansang is close behind with 111 BB, in third rank is Day 1D chip leader, Myer Tamayo with 88 BB.

Myer Tamayo

Tamayo’s flight drew in the who’s who of the local poker community with many making the cut. Among them were Marc Rivera, Lester Edoc, Flo Campomanes, and defending champion Bonifacio Mondalo who bagged 19 BB. Mondalo was the lone double qualifier, his shorter Day 1C half a blind stack will be removed.
