Metro Christmas Special Final 8 reached; Christopher “bigtime” Mateo one step away from title; Jason Kyle Magbanua wins the HR

The past three stages of the Metro Card Club Christmas Special has seen Filipino pro Christopher “bigtime” Mateo own the charts, topping Day 1A, Day 2, and Day 3. The last stage of the race is now at hand with Mateo bringing in 81 BB which is over double that of his challengers second ranked Emmanuel Segismundo (41 BB) and third ranked Czar Ian Marcos (39 BB). Main Event Day 3 review

The MCS kicked off on December 7 with three starting days attracting 336 entries. At the end of Day 2, only 59 remained led by Christopher “bigtime” Mateo.

Day 1A results: 49 entries / 17 advanced

Day 3 kicked off with the money just 19 spots away (which started at 40th place). Among those that earned a piece of the ₱4,880,000 prize pool were Day 1C chip leader /2022 RVS Cup 2022 champion Maxwell Philippe Rosete (13th), Vamerdino Magsakay (17th), Noel Araniel (22nd), and Day 1B chip leader Bonifacio “Jun” Mondalo (37th). The remaining players raced for a Final 8 seat and be one step closer to the title and the ₱1,280,000 (~$23,065) first place payout. When the final table neared, John Matsuda (12th), Edgar Asehan (11th), and Bell John Perez (10th) were dusted to be denied a spot. In less than twenty minutes, the RFID Final 8 was formed with Chierro De Leon falling in 9th place to Emmanuel Segismundo with {10h}{9c} dominated and outdrawn by {qd}{10d}. Impressively, only Segismundo and Mateo started the day in the top 8 and both closed the heat in the Final 8.
