Leonel Edejer dominates PPT Day 1A; three more starting days to join the action; Jharome Pena wins the Pre-Event

The Philippine Poker Tournament is well underway at the Metro Card Club with Day 1A now in the books! The first heat drew 62 entries with only 11 left at bagging time. Setting the bar for the next entry day was newcomer Leonel Edejer with 294,500 in chips. Edejer dominated the action, eliminating nearly every player at his table. Coming Day 2, he will be a force to contend with as he sits on a massive 98 BB stack. Among the players pulling through was 2015 APT Manila Main Event champion Joven Huerto with a 27 BB stack.

PPT action resumes on Thursday, May 12 with Day 1B up on the plate. Cards in the air at exactly 3pm. It will run a total of 14 levels with blinds increasing every 30 minutes. For those planning to jump in, we suggest getting there early as starting stack is a generous 15,000 which is a deep 150x the opening big blind. Buy in is Php 5,500. Multiple re-entry is allowed but only the biggest stack advances. Registration closes daily at the start of Level 10, which is at exactly 830pm. From there, play continues to the end of Level 14. The Day 1A qualifiers will have a few days off before they return to action on Day 2 which takes place on Sunday, May 15 starting at 1pm. Another 13 levels will be played or down to the final two tables, whichever is reached first. Level intervals increase to 40 minutes at final two tables onwards. Final day is on Monday, May 16.

JHAROME PENA wins the Pre-Event 250K GTD

The PPT opened on May 10 with the Pre-Event 250K guaranteed with Jharome Pena claiming the win for his first ever victory. Pena out lasted the 87 entry field, turning his Php 2,750 buy in into a cash payout of Php 86,000. He was also awarded a PPT seat worth Php 5,500. Congratulations to the champion!
