Inaugural Batang Metro Poker Challenge trophy within reach; Millionaire men lead in the final 22 players; Final Day chip counts, payouts, and info inside

The past five days saw the Metro Card Club fill to the brim for the newest homegrown festival, the Batang Metro Poker Challenge 2M guaranteed. The festival name, “Batang Metro”, is in recognition of the fantastic poker talents bred at the Metro. Among them was Mike Takayama, the first Filipino to win a coveted WSOP bracelet.

Today, a new champion will emerge at the Metro. That player will claim three things – the bragging rights inaugural title & trophy and a thick wad worth PHP 809,000.

For a brief rundown on Day 2, out of the 767 entrants, only 128 players were back in action. At the end of the scheduled twelve rounds. 22 players held strong. Two of them pushed the boundaries further, crossing into the million marker. Dominic Jose Javier (1,196,000) and Dennis Reyes (1,109,000) will lead in the Final Day pack this afternoon (Monday, August 26th) at 1pm. We will be reporting the action live until a winner is crowned so be sure to follow us!

Notes:

  • The final two tables wasn’t reached in Day 2 which means the game will resume with blinds increasing every 30 minutes and utilizing the “Big Blind Ante” format. Once the final two tables is reached, the blinds increase every 40 minutes and the format switches to “Regular Ante”. Once the final table is reached, the blinds increase every 60 minutes.

The BMPC 2m GTD drew a mighty 767 entries over four starting days. This crushed the guarantee and in its place a much richer prize pool worth PHP 3,068,000. Pieces of the pot were shaved off in Day 2 starting at 77th place. Among the players in the money were: Joseph Sia (27th), Dave Erquiaga (38th), Melia Wang (39th), Jose Allado (58th), Jose Colada (67th), William Ysmael (68th), and John Tech (74th). Below are the remaining payouts.

  • Top 15 players win a seat to RVS Cup Main Event worth PHP 11,000. RVS Cup is the Metro’s biggest annual event. It takes place from November 13 to 18, 2019.
  • The Tournament Director’s decision is final
  • Management reserves the right to cancel guarantee due to Force Majeure: Earthquake, Flooding or Typhoon
