Mark Amparo wins the Metro WALK TO A MILLION – Php 535,000

With the fall of Bonifacio Mondalo, the Metro WALK TO AL MILLION concluded with Mark Amparo shipping the title and the Php 535,000 first prize. Congratulations to the champion! The MWAM attracted 616 entries at Php 3,500 each for a guarantee smashing prize pool of 1,971,200. Only 61 players earned a piece. We will have a winner recap for you shortly. 9:25PM: Bonifacio Mondalo settles for 2nd place – Php 294,064

After dropping below 10bbs, Bonifacio Mondalo went all in blind (9th heads up hand) and Mark Amparo quickly called. Mondalo opened {10c}{5d}, Amparo with {kc}{2c}, the board ran dry for both. Mondalo settled for 2nd place and Php 294,064.


9:20PM: Mark Amparo doubles up, Mondalo plunges

On the seventh heads up hand, Mark Amparo retook the lead to amass a 10:1 chip advantage. Action saw Bonifacio Mondalo limp in, Amparo checked. At the flop {10s}{jd}{2h}, Amparo check-called a 70k bet. On the turn {6c}, Amparo checked, Mondalo bet 300k, Amparo shoved, called by Mondalo.

The river {7s} secured the win for Amparo to double up to 8.36M. Mondalo plummeted to 800k.


9:10PM: Bonifacio Mondalo rivers Amparo to take the lead

On just the third heads up hand, Bonifacio Mondalo banked a huge double up to avoid the rail and take the chip lead. The hand began with Mondalo raising to 200k, Amparo called. At the flop {2s}{9c}{7d}, Amparo checked, Mondalo c-bet 160k, Amparo called. On the turn {5c}, Amparo checked again, Mondalo fired 510k, Amparo jammed, Mondalo called putting himself at risk.

The river {3c} was exactly what Mondalo needed to complete his flush and double up. He rose to 5M while Amparo dropped to 4.13M.

Seemed like Mark Amparo really had Reiner Magbutay’s number tonight. After donating more of his chips to Amparo, Magbutay finally gave the rest to him, leaving the tournament in 3rd place. Amparo bet 170k from the dealer position, which small blind Mondalo called. Big blind Magbutay went all in, Amparo called and pushed Mondalo out of the pot, leaving Amparo and Magbutay heads up once again. Amparo was ahead with {ad}{qh} Magbutay showed {kc}{qs}. Board landed {jc}{9s}{9c}{as}{7h}. Amparo hit and Magbuntay was eliminated in 3rd place for Php 180,000.


8:45PM: Mark Amparo catapults to the chip lead

Mark Amparo and Reiner Magbutay went at it again. Magbutay three-bet shoved with {as}{8s}, initial raiser Amparo risked with {ad}{3d}. The board ran {2s}{2d}{3c}{7c}{10h}. Amparo avoided the rail with a pair to catapult to the chip lead. He now has over 3.5M. Magbutay dropped just below 3M.


8:30PM: Bryan Pelandas ousted in 4th place – Php 111,600

Bryan Pelandas hung in there for a while but could never reach the heights of the big stacks all around him. His final hand was {as}{10h} against Reiner Magbutay’s {kc}{qc}. The board ran {qs}{jh}{4c}{jc}{3c}. Magbutay connected while Pelandas was railed in 4th place. He earned Php 111,600.


8:25PM: Reiner Magbutay and Mark Amparo battle

Mark Amparo and Reiner Magbutay went pound for pound in two hands. First one saw Amparo raise to 170k, Magbutay three-bet to 425k, Amparo shoved, Mabutay folded.

Next hand, Magbutay shoved, Amparo with the snap-call. Magbutay had {2d}{2h}, Amparo with {ac}{js}, the board bricked and the small pair survived. Magbutay doubled up to 1.670M, Amparo dropped to 1.840M.

Button Mark Amparo opened with a 140k raise, sb Bonifacio Mondalo three-bet to 360k, bb Reiner Magbutay shoved his 1.765M stack, A,mparo folded, Mondalo tanked. After a couple of minutes squiriming in his seat, Mondalo folded after Magbutay agreed to show if he folded. Mondalo showed pocket queens, Magbutay showed ace-king suited.

After getting chunked down on the previous hand, Jessie Bulatao met his end on the next hand. Action folded to sb Bonifacio Mondalo who shoved his big stack, bb Bulatao followed and risked his short stack. Mondalo {ac}{2c}, Bulatao {qc}{8s}, the board felted {3d}{10c}{2d}{kd}{9c}. Bulatao’s strong run ended in 5th place to earn him Php 80,000.

7:25PM: Jimmie Javier with a dramatic fall in 7th place – Php 48,000

Jimmie Javier drew a big rail with his flurry of consecutive hands that eventually saw him fall in 7th place. He first moved all in on the button with over 400k and was joined by sb Bryan Pelandas with slightly more. Javier {10h}{7d}, Pelandas {ad}{qh}, the board ran {9s}{8h}{4s}{2c}{qd}. Pelandas doubled up to 930k, Javier plummeted to 25k.

The subsequent hand Javier was all in and tripled up with {8h}{9s} on a board running {9d}{10s}{as}{qc}{jd}. With 105k shipped, Javier was all in again on the next hand with {ad}{10h} and doubled up through Tyrone Lim with {ac}{9h} on a board that ran {qs}{qh}{kc}{3h}{4h}.

Now sitting with 300k, Javier moved it all in holding {js}{jd}, Amparo matched him up with {as}{qs}, the board ran out {3d}{3s}{6s}{ad}{6d} to end Javier’s crazy rush. He earned Php 48,000. Amparo up to 2.5M. We are down to 6 players.


7:15PM: Bonifacio Mondalo raises three in a row

Bonifacio Mondalo on a raising spree here with three in a row. He didn’t win all three though. The first one was a 160k bump that saw no callers. The second was a 145k raised, Reiner Magbutay three-bet to 345k, Mondalo folded. On the third no callers again to his 145k raise.


6:57PM: Jessie Bulatao boosts his stack with 4 of a kind

Action folded to small blind Tyrone Lim who called, big blind Jessie Bulatao checked. Flop came {7s}{3h}{3c}, Lim led for 60K, Bulatao called. Turn came {9s} both checked. River {3s} Lim bet 100k, Bulatao raised to 250k, Lim called. Bulatao won the pot with {3d}{8c} – 4 of a kind.

A few hands later, Bulatao took down another pot, this time against Bryan Pelandas. Bulatao raised to 150k preflop, big blind Pelandas called. Flop landed {2h}{10s}{8c} both checked. Turn came {5h} both checked again. The river came {2c} Pelandas checked, Bulatao bet 120k, Pelandas let it go. Bulatao’s stack now up to 1.4M.


6:50PM: Randy Cirineo eliminated in 8th place – Php 38,400

We just lost Randy Cirineo in 8th place. Cirineo had a good start today, even rising to become one of the chip leaders, however the final table was more of a challenge for him. His final hand of the tournament began with him raising to 115k from the button, bb Reiner Magbutay called. At the flop {ah}{7h}{5c}, Magbutay checked, Cirineo bet 150k, Magbutay raised to 400k, Cirineo jammed, and a quick call by Magbutay.

The turn {2d} kept Cirineo ahead but the river {qh} sent him crashing out. Cirineo earned Php 38,400 for his deep run. Magbutay soared to 2.4M making him our chip leader with 7 players remaining.


6:45PM: Mark Amparo takes some back from Reiner Magbutay

6:30PM: Reiner Magbutay on the rise; Mark Amparo loses some

Heated preflop war began with Reiner Magbutay raising to 110k, sb Mark Amparo three-bet to 360k, Magbutay answered with a shove for an additional 643k, Amparo folded. Magbutay rose to 1.44M, Amparo slipped to 1.55M.

5:40PM: Joseph Sia bows out in 9th place – Php 28,800

Joseph Sia had a rollercoaster of a final day. He entered with the largest stack, proceeded to lose costly pots along the way to nearly drop out well before the final table. He was given renewed life when he banked a lucky double up through Royly Oracion then found his way to the final 10. His run for the title would however be cut short in 9th place by Mark Amparo. Amparo raised to 94k, Sia shoved, called by Amparo.

5:20PM: Another good pot for Bonifacio Mondalo

Three-way limped pot with Tyrone Lim, sb Mark Amparo, and bb Bonifacio Mondalo. The flop came {10s}{8c}{jd}, Amparo bet 50k and was called by both opponents. The turn {5d}, Amparo sent out 250k, Mondalo raised to 550k, Lim bowed out followed shortly by Amparo.

Battle of the blinds Joseph Sia and Jessie Bulatao raised the pot pre flop. The board landed {7h}{kh}{9c}. Sia bet 45k Bulatao called. Both players checked the turn {kc}.  River came {10h} Sia bet 200k Bulutao called. Sia showed {qd}{jc} for a straight, but was beaten by Bulutao’s flush {qh}{6h}. Sia’s stack dipped to 660k, while Bulutao is up 1.5M.\

One orbit prior, there was a bit of controversy on a hand that saw Bulatao win with a one card straight flush. Sia was first to act and he bet, Bulatao called then showed the winning hand. Royly Oracion noticed the straight flush and wondered why Bulatao didn’t raise with the nuts. According to Bulatao, he didn’t realize he had the nuts. The floor was called. Despite the honest mistake, a warning was given to Bulatao.


2:35PM: Randy Cirineo takes down a big pot with bluff
