Not wanting to miss out on the 2 Million guarantee, the Philippine Poker Tournament Main Event drew a roaring 231 entrants to the last starting heat. The casualties were abundant with only 39 surviving the onslaught. Among the survivors were the country’s top pros Mike Takayama (37,000) and Lester Edoc (33,300). Their stacks however paled in comparison to the day’s chip leaderJessie Leonarez. Leonarez closed the day with 251,500. He just edged Izutsu Shojiro who bagged 240,700.

With the completion of all four starting days, 81 players move on to Day 2 which takes place on Sunday, February 3 at 1pm. Day 1A chip leader Bonifacio Mondalo maintained his lead of 273,075.

The Main Event drew a total of 487 entries. The top 49 places will get paid. We will have the prize pool for you once that’s been announced.

Day 2 will play a total of 12 rounds or to the final two tables whichever is reached first. Players get to see more hands in this stage with blinds increasing every 40 minutes. The Big Blind Ante system will be replaced by the Regular Ante (per player) system at the final two tables.
