FINAL TWO TABLES OF THE MAIN EVENT DECIDED! ONE DAY FROM CROWNING THE FIRST METRO 2019 CHAMPION

In just four and a half hours of Day 2 action, the 81-player field of the Philippine Poker Tournament Main Event trimmed down to the final 18 players. Navigating through a heavily packed Filipino force was one of the handful of non-locals in the field, Japanese player Izutsu Shojiro. Shojiro entered Day 2 running third-in-chips and proceeded claim the leader’s seat at the close with his 906,000 stack.

Other players securing their seat into the final day were Day 1A chip leader Bonifacio Mondalo and Day 1B chip leader Carlos Butch “Trashman” Monton. Day 1C chip leader Grace Takayama had the misfortune of falling in 19th place, just missing the final day. 

One major threat coming tomorrow’s final day is Emmanuel Segismundo. Segismundo has won numerous events in the country since 2014. He sits with the fourth largest stack of 524,000.

Day 2 saw portions of the P1,940,000 prize pool claimed with payouts starting at 50th place. Day 1D chip leader Jessie Leonarez cashed in 35th, William Ysmael in 41st, and Mike Takayama in 49th.

What everyone will be gunning for on the final day is the P535,000 first prize and the bragging rights first Metro title of 2019.
