06 Jul Boises, Alveyra Top MWAM Main Event Biggest Flights; Event Draws 1,216 Entries For ₱6M Prize Pool
That’s it! After six starting flights, the Metro Walk To A Million – MWAM Main Event has once again surpassed its guarantee! Though it wasn’t a record-breaker, the event drew 1,216 entries for ₱6,080,000 (~USD 106,400) prize pool of which 173 players earned a share. For the eventual champion, a cash payout of ₱817,500 awaits plus a seat worth ₱55K to the upcoming Philippine Poker Millions.
MWAM Main Event – Day 1 Recap

The last two flights of the MWAM Main Event packed the Metro Card Club with every table occupied. Day 1E saw a storm of 323 entries -the largest of all the flights – and Day 1F adding another 252, making it the second largest. Among the players that came out for a shot were Jae Yi Chang, John Costiniano, Rommel Angeles, Czar Ian Marcos, Kim Enriquez, Redentor Edoc, Vince Nachor, Richard Marquez, and Metro Team Pro Willliam Ysmael to name a few.
By the completion of both, the total number of Day 2 qualifiers was determined. The list has 167 players advancing with six double qualifiers already earning the minimum payout of ₱10,000.

Gian Cedric Boises, Rowena Alveyra Top Final Flights

Retaining his head honcho status was Day 1C chip leader Edilberto Gopez Jr whose 586,000 stack was unbeaten. He brings in the torch at Day 2 sitting on a mountain of chips worth 97 big blinds. Gopez’s closest contender is Gian Cedric Boiser (pictured above) who put up a strong effort at Day 1F, leading the 36 survivors to ultimately bag up 506,000. Boiser’s stack is equivalent to 84 big blinds. He will have quite a challenge on Day 2 with notables JR Villanueva and Alexis Lim seated at his table.

Rowena Alveyra (pictured above) delivered the most impressive run of the day as she topped the biggest field, bagging 486,000 0ut of the 46 survivors. This earned Alveyra the third largest stack worth 81 big blinds in the overall Day 2 lineup. Her strong presence will continue as she enters with nearly double the stack of Jun Amsic, the closest stack of 252,000 (42 bb) at her table.

Day 2 Gets Underway
At the time of publishing, Day 2 was underway with 167 players battling it out for a spot in the final day. Only 16 players will advance. What’s for sure is that no matter the outcome, there will be a new champion crowned tomorrow as no past champions made it through.
In addition to the cash payouts, the top 9 players will receive a seat worth ₱55,000 to the Philippine Poker Millions, players from 10th-27th will receive a PPM Mega Satellite seat worth ₱12,000.
