23 Apr Hunt For The Philippine Poker Tournament Main Event Title Begins Today! Eugenio Bestil, Lemmor Patulot Win Events
After a smashing turnout at the Pre-Event, the 6th edition of the Philippine Poker Tournament Main Event kicks off today! A homegrown creation by Metro Card Club, this latest installment comes with a ₱4 Million (~$71,000) guarantee, a figure widely expected to be blown past with buy-in at a very affordable price of ₱6,500 (~US$ 115).
PPT Main Event
Getting down to business, the PPT Main Event runs from April 23 to April 28, 2025. To give players ample chances at qualifying for the money round, six flights have been scheduled. Through the years, this event has driven players from across the country, pros, recreational, and novices, with the hopes of turning their small buy-in into a seven figure payday. Last year, that’s exactly what Alexander Lai did, walking away with over a million PHP for his victory.
Another attraction of this event is its deep starting stack of 25,000 which is 250 times the opening blinds. That means lots of playing time to choose your spots and build up. If you miss the mark, each flight offers unlimited re-entries which is available until the start of Level 11. Blinds increase every 30-minutes, except for Flight D and Flight F which go up every 20 minutes.
The Philippine Poker Tournament is one of the youngest homegrown Metro festivals with only five prior champions crowned. In 2019, Gideon Galpo was the first to claim the title followed by Rasid Paitao (2020), Maxwell Rosete (2022), Jharome Pena (2023), and as mentioned above, Alexander Lai (2024). You can bet on these minted warriors to return for another shot at attaining glory.
Eugenio Bestil Wins First Title At Pre-Event
First ever title for Eugenio Bestil! But first, let’s backtrack… the PPT festival kicked off with a huge bang, drawing a thunder of 589 entries for the Pre-Event. With buy-in at ₱3,500, the ₱1M guarantee was instantly crushed for a sweeter prize pool of ₱1,884,800 (~US$ 33,300). After an ICM heads up deal, Bestil emerged victorious over Angelo Vidal to capture his first ever live poker tournament title at the Metro and a career high payout of ₱261,541 (~US$ 4,600). Congratulations to the new champion!
Expect to see Bestil at the PPT Main Event as he tries to carry the momentum to an even larger title and payday.
