16 Apr Are You Ready To Be The Next PPT Chamipon?
Summer is high and poker is about to hit fever pitch as the Metro Card Club presents the 6th annual Philippine Poker Tournament (PPT). Running from April 19 to April 28, 2025, the ten-day festival offers a 7-game lineup highlighted by the prestige of being crowned the next PPT Main Event champion.
Philippine Poker Tour – PPT Main Event
The Philippine Poker Tour – PPT Main Event will once again be backed by a ₱4,000,000 (~$71,000) guarantee. Through the years, this event’s popularity has only escalated that last year, this figure was utterly crushed. The 1,656 entries set a new record prize pool of ₱6,518,016 Million (~$116,500). The event was championed by Metro regular Alexander Lai who went from just 3 big blinds to a career high ₱1,009,032 (~$18,000) payday. You can expect Lai to defend his title in the coming days.
For this edition, the buy-in has increased slightly to ₱6,500 (~US$ 115). Players will have six chances to try to qualify for the final day where the money is assured. Flights run from April 23-26, 2025 with unlimited re-entries available until the start of Level 11. Each level runs 30-minute blinds, except for Flight D and Flight F which go up every 20 minutes.
One of the attractions of this event is the 25,000 starting stack which is a deep 250 times the opening blind. That means lots of playing time to choose your spots and build up.
PPT Main Event Champions
The PPT was introduced in 2019 with Gideon Galpo as the first to claim the title. Since then, there have been four more installments. Rasid Paitao won it in 2020 followed by Maxwell Rosete (2020), Jharome Pena (2023), and Alexander Lai (2024). The next champion could be you!
PPT Pre-Event
To get some early practice, the PPT opens its doors with the PPT Pre-Event which features a ₱1,000,000 (~US$ 17,600) prize pool. This event too has consistently breached its offering, setting up healthy bankrolls for the final table finishers. Buy-in is ₱3,500 (~US$ 61) with four flights running from April 19-21.
Players begin with a 20,000 stack, and like the main, blinds increase every 30 minutes except for the Flight D Turbo which is at 20 minutes.
Flight A: Saturday, April 19 at 3pm
Flight B: Sunday, April 20 at 3pm
Flight C: Monday, April 21 at 2pm
Flight D: Monday, April 21 at 7pm (Turbo)
Side Events
In addition to the main and pre-event are five side events to choose from with a couple of them designed for evening warriors. Buy-ins are from ₱3,500 to ₱5,000.
