19 Jan Filipino pro Lester Edoc tops PPT Day 1A; 25 advance; Vivencio Nachor wins the Pre-Event
The bar has been set! The fourth annual Philippine Poker Tournament concluded Day 1A of its Php 3 Million (~$54,900) guaranteed event with a healthy 127 turning up. After the scheduled 14 levels of play, only 25 remained. Three players were very close in stacks with Filipino pro Lester Edoc edging the count by just one big blind.
Edoc bagged up 206,000 (41 BB) and is now the player to catch. For those who don’t know Edoc, he is one of the country’s finest players and is a Metro Card Club Team Pro. Among his numerous victories is an RVS Cup title and a Batang Metro which he won last year.
The next two down the rung were Marciel Cerbito with 202,000 (40 BB) and Jayvon Pacaba Carreon 200,500 (40 BB), both players with stacks that were worthy of the chip lead. Another notable making the cut was Vamerdino Magsakay who was on a tear last year winning multiple heavy fielded events including the Metro’s own RVS Cup. Magsakay closed the day with a decent 161,000 (32 BB).
