RVS Cup: Joseph Ang, Ronnie Sy Top Main Event Flights; Last Chance To Enter Today

Another two flights in the books at the 2025 RVS Cup Philippine Poker Championship Main Event taking place right here at Metro Card Club. As the club’s most popular annual event, this year’s headliner features a ₱10,000,000 (~$168,700) guarantee. Kicking off on November 12 and running through November 17. Last night, two more flights completed adding a combined 155 entries to bring the cumulative tally to 365.

Once again, familiar faces mixed with a crowd of recreational tournament players and newcomers. The first to wrap up was Day 1C which drew a crowd of 114 runners with 16 players booking their spot in the money round. Joseph Ang (pictured below) topped the heat with 334,000 (41 big blinds), placing him in fourth position in the Day 2 leaderboard with Day 1B’s Lourd Ejem holding firm as first rank with 458,000.

Though not a Metro festival regular, Ang has cashed a few times at the club and is still on the hunt for that first title. If he continues this pace, he may well get there.

After several attempts, Moses Saquing (pictured below) finally grinded his way into Day 2 with a healthy stack of 266,000 (33 big blinds). Saquing is hot on the hunt for the RVS Cup title having been denied in 2023 by Edilberto Gopez right at victory’s doorstep.

Among the unlucky ones were 2017 RVS Cup champion Christopher Chua and Metro Team Pros Czardy Rivera and Lemmor Patul0t. They still have two flights to try to turn it around.

RVS Cup Main Event Day 1C

Shortly after Day 1C registration closed, Day 1D picked up with 41 taking interest. This was the first flight offering a turbo format with blinds increasing every 20 minutes. With only 6 guaranteed to move on, it was a tough battle for the one of the coveted spots. Among those finding success was Ronnie Sy who bagged the flights’s biggest at 354,000 (44  bing blinds), putting him third rank in the current Day 2 leaderboard.

Also earning a spot at ITM was Metro commentator Jester Intia (pictured below) who bagged 130,000 (16 big blinds). Intia has been due for a big win and last year, he nearly accomplished it, finishing in a respectable 3rd place, just behind heavyweights Mike Takayama and reigning champion Lester Edoc.
