22 Aug Philippine Poker Millions: Po-Hsun Liao Pushes The Ceiling At Main Event Day 1B
Another action-packed day at the Metro Card Club as Day 1B fueled in 103 entries to the inaugural Philippine Poker Millions Main Event. Expectedly, the field drew a mixed bag of talent as locals and foreigners, and pros and recreational players all fired away for a spot at the money round where a ₱5,000,000 prize pool is guaranteed.
Po-Hsun Liao Tops Philippine Poker Millions Main Event Day 1B
Familiar faces returned to the felt, including players from the earlier flights. Big names added firepower to the day: 2024 APPT Manila champion Cheng Xiong, 2025 APPT Manila runner-up Oliver Lirio, PPM Mystery Bounty crusher Marco Espela, and two-time APT titleholder Henrik Tollefsen.
As the bubble burst, only Tollefsen managed to bag up alongside 13 other contenders. Joining him were heavy-hitters such as Metro Team Pro Mike Takayama, Maxwell Rosete, and Edilberto Gopez. Topping them all was Taiwan’s Po-Hsun Liao, who closed the night with a towering of 972,000 stack, and putting himself in prime position entering Day 2. As a regular in the Philippine poker circuit, Liao ran red hot at the recently concluded 2025 APPT Manila Main Event in 24th place.
That now brings the total entries (including Day 1 legs at other locations) to 856 with 74 players through to Day 2.

Four Flights Remaining
If you are new to the Philippine Poker Millions, you’ve arrived at the perfect time. The PPM is the first event of its kind, uniting poker clubs nationwide for one massive ₱50 Million Guaranteed PPM Main Event . Only four Day 1 flights remain to try to reach the money round and they all take place right here at Metro.
The standard buy-in is ₱55,000 while a cheaper route of ₱27,500 is provided however you only receive a half starting stack.
- Full Ticket: ₱55,000 (14% ITM)
- Half Ticket: ₱27,500 (two halves make one full entry, 7% ITM)
For full ticket players, the starting stack is 40,000 while half-ticket holders start with 20,0000. If you are hunting value, the Metro has lined up two ₱12,000 Mega Satellite Qualifiers where players can win a seat once 50K chips has been accumulated.
