21 Aug Philippine Poker Millions: Cezar Quiambao Tops Main Event Opening Day; Rising Star Marco Espela Wins Mystery Bounty
The first ever Philippine Poker Millions is on its final stages with all the action now taking place at the Metro Card Club in Pasig City, Metro Manila. On Wednesday, August 21, the Metro PPM Main Event Day 1 legs kicked off with 94 turning up for Day 1A and 31 for the Day 1A – Turbo.
Among the familiar faces seen in action were Maxwell Rosete, John Niko Costiniano, Metro Team Pros Marc Rivera, William Ysmael, Mike Takayama, Lemmor Patulot, and Jason Kyle Magbanua, However, all of them failed to bag and will likely be seen at the next flights.
Cezar Quiambao, Rodelo Pabalate Top Opening Day Heats
On the sunny side of the tracks, Moses Saquing, John Tech, and Vamerdino Magsakay secured their spot in the money round while wrapping up as top flight baggers were Cezar Quiambao (490,000) and Rodelo Pabalate (348,000).
It wasn’t just all locals at the tables, international players coming out were Joseph Magnotti, Donghyun Kim, and a rarity at the club’s events, Gary Thompson. Only Kim survived the heat with a decent 225,000 stack.
Five Entry Flights Remaining
This historic event continues with five more flights yet to complete at Metro. This is the last batch of Day 1 flights to qualify into the money round where a ₱5,000,000 prize pool is guaranteed.
The standard buy-in is ₱55,000 while a cheaper route of ₱27,500 is provided however you only receive a half starting stack.
- Full Ticket: ₱55,000 (14% ITM)
- Half Ticket: ₱27,500 (two halves make one full entry, 7% ITM)
For full ticket players, the starting stack is 40,000 while half-ticket holders start with 20,0000. If you are hunting value, the Metro has lined up two ₱12,000 Mega Satellite Qualifiers where players can win a seat once 50K chips has been accumulated.

Marco Espela Rules The Mystery Bounty
Dominating performance by Marco Espela at the Mystery Bounty event, knocking out a total of 9 players on his way to the top of the podium. Espela outlasted the 327 entry field to claim the lion’s share of the ₱2,884,140 prize pool. Along with the first place payout of ₱304,640, Espela collected a whopping ₱467,000 in bounties! For a measly ₱10,000 buy-in, Espela turned it into a sweet bankroll of ₱771,641.
