
20 May Summer Just Got Hotter With The MSE Main Event Kicking Off Tomorrow; Tiongson, Edoc, Ola Win Trophies
Tomorrow, chips will clack, seats will fill, and cards will fly as the Metro Summer Event Main Event kicks off, headlined by a ₱6 Million (~US$ 107.7K) guaranteed prize pool.
Running from May 21-26, 2025 at the country’s most popular card room, Metro Card Club in Ortigas, this event is set to once again capture the Philippine poker scene especially with its friendly buy-in of just ₱11,000 (~US$ 195).
Last year, this same event shattered all expectations as hordes of players piled in for a piece of the action. Drawing 912 entries, the prize pool soared to ₱9.12 Million (~US$ 161,000), with Korea’s Jae Chang rising above the heap. Chang turned his lowly entry for a PHP 1.46 Million payday.

The buzz has already started. The past several days has seen many familiar faces take to the felt for the pre-games. Young gun, Rene Mar David, is among them, ready to hunt down a back-to-back Metro title having recently championed the Philippine Poker Tour Main Event. Other players at the scene are Lester Edoc – one of the Philippines most accomplished players – Bryan Tiongson, and Danilo Ola. All three players are in prime shape having already secured a side event trophy.

The Metro Summer Event Pre-Event set the tone of the annual series with a booming 304 entries boosting the ₱700K guarantee to a richer ₱836,000 prize pool. Bryan Tiongson (pictured above) locked up his largest live tournament payout after taking down, turning his ₱3K buy-in into a sweet ₱134,000 (~US$ 2,400).

At the Mix NLH/PLO, it was none other than Metro Team Pro Lester Edoc (pictured above) emerging triumphant for his nth career victory. Edoc outgunned the 18 entry field (14 unique) to claim the biggest share of the ₱72,000 prize pool for a payout of ₱30,858.
Also claiming an early trophy was Danilo Ola (pictured above) who topped the Super Stack for a payout of ₱30,930. The event pulled in 30 entries for a prize pool of ₱109,500.
