Another batch of title-hunters found success at Flight C and Flight D of the Philippine Poker Tournament – PPT Main Event, currently taking place at the Metro Card Club. Earning the highest marks were Raymundo Gomez Jr and Jester Intia, both players closing the day as heat leaders.

PPT Main Event – Flight C

Kicking off the action on Friday, April 25 was Flight C of the Main Event with 148 turning up for a shot at the juicy ₱4 Million (~US$ 71,000) prize pool.  With only 14% guaranteed to advance to the ITM round, the field was overrun by many decorated notables yet to secure their spot. Among those that survived were Terry Gonzaga, young gun Rene Mar David, Edwin Dela Cruz, and John Niko Costiniano

Out-chipping them all was Raymundo Gomez Jr. (pictured above) who bagged 457,000, a far distance from second ranked Riener Magbutay with 328,000. Gomez’s stack was just shy of reaching the current leader, Flight A’s Lemmor Patulot (466,000), however he did surpass the defending champion, Alexander Lai (454,000), for second rank in the cumulative Day 2 lineup.

Jester Intia

In the evening, only 77 took interest in Flight D’s turbo structure which wrapped up in no time with the final 11 players determined. The best run was by Metro commentator Jester Intia who bagged 388,000, placing him fourth in the cumulative Day 2 list. Intia may have the gift of gab but he is also no stranger to deep runs on the felt. At the Metro, Intia has captured several side event and weekend titles. He also came close to victory at last year’s RVS Cup.

Final Chance To Enter

The PPT Main Event continues with the last two flights running today, April 26. There are currently 504 entries and 72 players through to the money round. At the time of posting, Flight E was underway starting at 1pm which will be followed by Flight F (Turbo) at 7pm. Buy in is ₱6,500 (~US$ 115).

To give players an idea of what’s possible, last year, Alexander Lai turned his four-digit buy-in into a whopping seven figures. The next big winner could be you!
