
24 Apr Lemmor Patulot, Alexander Lai Top PPT Main Event Day 1A
Fresh off a victory at the PPT Freezeout side event the day prior, the 2024 Metro Player Of The Year, Lemmor Patulot kept his fire burning at the Philippine Poker Tournament- PPT Main Event Day 1A, bagging the biggest stack of 466,000 among the 23 survivors.
On the leader’s heels was none other than the defending champion Alexander Lai (pictured below) with 454,000. Lai is looking primed for a back-to-back. And rounding out the top three was the highly decorated Moses Saquing who already has a Metro Summer Event Main Event title under his belt. Saquing closed the day with 379,000.
The opening flight of the 6th PPT Main Event drew plenty of interest with 161 lighting up the tables at the Metro Card Club. Once registration closed, the field trimmed down to 14%, leaving just 23 players earning their spot at Day 2. Listed below are the qualifiers. Each are guaranteed a piece of the ₱4 Million (~US$ 71,000) prize pool but first, they will have a few days rest before returning to action on April 27, 2025.
The PPT Main Event rolls on with another five starting days to come. The action resumes today, April 24, with Day 1B kicking off at 2PM. Staying true to its player-friendly roots, the Metro Card Club keeps the buy-in at an accessible ₱6,500 (~US$115), giving everyone a fair shot at the title. So expect another packed house!
The Philippine Poker Tournament is one of the youngest homegrown Metro festivals with only five prior champions crowned: Gideon Galpo (2019), Rasid Paitao (2020), Maxwell Rosete (2022), Jharome Pena (2023), and Alexander Lai (2024) who turned his buy-in into a seven-figure payday. As mentioned above, Lai has already secured his spot at Day 2.
Barte Segundo Jr. Wins After Dark Turbo
The masked man Barte Segundo Jr could not be cracked at the evening side event After Dark Turbo, coming out on top of the 41 entries. Segundo turned his ₱3K buy-in into a sweeter ₱33,915 and received a trophy to commemorate the moment.
