12 Nov Who Will Be Crowned The 2024 RVS CUP Champion?
From a field of 899 entries, the RVS CUP Philippine Poker Championship is down to the final 18 players! The Metro Card Club’s beloved homegrown tournament will soon crown its newest champion and award the largest ever first prize of ₱3,750,000 (~US$ 64,000) in the richest RVS Cup in history.
To determine the finalists, 124 players battled it out at Day 2 led by Flight F chip leader Anthony Castro. When the final two tables was reached. Castro remained at the helm, backed by a strong 4,180,000 stack, equivalent to 70 bb. He is far ahead of second ranked Richard Nakila with 2,935,000 (49 bb).
Castro has been running deep at Metro events and nearly won a title at the Metro Walk To A Million finishing in 2nd place. He was recently crowned champion at the RVS Cup Mystery Bounty. Could it be his year?
Down the rung were RVS Cup champions Lester Edoc (2014) and Richard Marquez (2015), both looking to be the event’s first multi champion. Others in contention include two of the country’s most decorated, Mike Takayama, Marc Rivera, and young gun Maxwell Rosete who won a Metro major back in 2022.
