Lester Edoc has done it again! One of the country’s top poker players and a Metro Team Pro, Edoc made history by becoming the first player ever to win the prestigious RVS Cup Philippine Poker Championship twice.

“Winning my second RVS title feels absolutely amazing! I can’t even put it into words. I’ve really focused on honing my skills and strategy this year, putting in the time to study and practice. Luck definitely plays a part but it’s all about putting in the work and staying dedicated.”

A decade after clinching the inaugural title in 2014, Edoc returned to claim victory once more, taking home the largest first prize in the tournament’s history of ₱3,750,000 (~US$ 64,000). At heads up, Edoc defeated fellow poker pro Mike Takayama in just a few hands to seal this milestone victory.

RVS Cup Philippine Poker Championship Review

The 11th RVS Cup Philippine Poker Championship ran from November 7 to 12 at the Metro Card Club. As this year’s star attraction, the guarantee was bumped up to a jaw dropping ₱20,000,000 (~US$ 345,850) with 899 entrants vying for a piece. Only 127 players shaved it down.

Entering the final day, 18 players returned with Lester Edoc several spots below chip leader Anthony Castro. By the time the final table (pictured below) was formed, Edoc was at the helm and Castro denied a seat after falling in 10th place. Castro fell to Jester Intia with {js}{jh} set crushing {10s}{7d}.

At the final table, Edoc maintained his lead for some time with Mike Takayama swiftly moving up the ranks. Edoc then lost a chunk to Manuel Geronimo on a dominated ace to lose top position. However, Geronimo’s rise was short-lived. All in with pocket Jacks, it was cracked by pocket Eights for Edoc to recover while Geronimo plunged and eventually busted in 5th place.

Four handed was quite the grind with young gun Maxwell Rosete and Takayama taking their turn up top. Rosete eventually finished 4th followed by Metro commentator Intia in 3rd place.

At heads up, Takayama was slightly ahead in chips and lost nearly all of it on the first hand with Edoc’s queen high holding. Takayama attempted to recover but was ultimately unable to regain control and fell in 2nd place.

Congratulations to Lester Edoc! His incredible run continues boosting his live earnings to over $2.24 Million.
