Day 1A of the 2024 Metro Walk To A Million is done and dusted with 299 entries making a bid for a piece of the ₱5,000,000 (~$86,650) guaranteed prize pool. By bagging time, only 42 reached that goal led by Ronald Dumandan with 539,000 in chips. Dumandan has now set the bar for the five starting flights to follow.
Joining the leader into the next round are numerous familiar faces that include Jasper David (second largest stack), Maxwell Rosete (2022 PPT Champion), Noel Araniel (APC Champion), Gideon Galpo (2019 PPT Champion), and Metro Team Pros Euryd Rivera and Jimmie Javier.

The 42 qualifiers are now on a few days break with Day 2 taking place on Sunday, June 23, 2024. While they wait, five flights remain. Buy in is ₱5,500 (~$94) with unlimited re-entries and multiple stacks allowed. Players start with 25,000 in chips which is a deep 250 times the opening blinds. This gives plenty of playing time to chip up before registration closes at the start of Level 11. For those that sign up at the last second, you still have 17 big blinds to work with entering the freezeout stage. Flights bag up when ITM is reached of 14% of the field.
For those just hearing of this event, the Metro Walk To A Million has evolved into a major mid-year homegrown event of the Metro Card Club. Starting with a ₱1.5 Million guarantee, it increased to ₱2 Million in 2022, and then to ₱3 Million in 2023. Each year, the event surpassed its guarantee, culminating in last year’s impressive ₱5.1 Million record prize pool. With Day 1A attracting a massive 299 entries, the 4th edition is headed for another blockbuster.
Richard Nakila Wins NLH Turbo
The second side event trophy was captured by Richard Nakila at the NLH Turbo. Nakila topped the 70 entry field to claim the lion’s share of the ₱224,000 prize pool.
