5M Guaranteed Metro Walk To A Million Begins Today; Anthony Castro Wins Pre-Event

The fourth edition of the Metro Walk To A Million is upon us! One of Metro Card Club‘s homegrown favorites, the MWAM kicks off at 2pm today, June 19, featuring a whopping ₱5,000,000 (~$86,650) guarantee. Players can expect a large turnout with past editions drawing record numbers. Last year, MWAM attracted 1,656 entries for a crushing prize pool of ₱5,140,000 (~$92,150).

This year’s Metro Walk To A Million will see a slightly higher buy in of ₱5,500 (~$94). Players start with 25,000 in chips which is a very generous 250 times the opening blinds. This gives everyone plenty of time to chip up before registration closes at the start of Level 11. For those that sign up at the last second, you still have 17 big blinds to work with entering the freezeout stage.

To enter, players have six flights to chance with each one playing down to ITM of 14% of the field. Two of the flights are Turbos which are faster blinds of 20 minutes. Multiple stacks are also allowed with the largest stack advancing and the other stack(s) removed from play. Excess stacks receive the minimum payout.

Metro Walk To A Million – Winners

In 2023, Filipino Oliver John Tapel topped the 1,656 entry field of the 3rd Metro Walk To A Million to lock up his first Metro title and ₱867,470 (~$15,550). Tapel is looking forward to returning with a short quote saying,

“Laro ult ako and I will try my best, bahala na kung anong mang yayari sa laban.” (I will be there to play again and I will try my best no matter the outcome.)

Other past winners were Mark Amparo and Jason Kyle Magbanua with the latter also expected to make a bid for his a second win.

Anthony Castro wins MWAM Pre-Event

The Metro Walk To A Million festival opened with the MWAM Pre-Event running on June 17-18, 2024. Big score for Anthony Castro who turned his lowly ₱4,000 (~$68) buy in into victory and a ₱99,000 (~$1,690) payday. The event drew 139 entries (106 unique) for a prize pool of ₱521,950 (~$8,900). A total of 20 players earned a cut of the pot.
