Metro Summer Event – Day 2 recap
After five entry heats, only 127 advanced to Day 2 out of the 912 total entries. Nearly all of the Day 1 leaders advanced – Gerardo Lubas III (1,040,000), Qi Xia (635,000), Liao Po-Hsun (505,000), and Ronald Acosta (400,000). The only one that missed the mark was the day’s entering chip leader Ivan Dela Cruz who pushed all in with {kh}{4h} and was rivered by {jc}{10c} on a board {jd}{ks}{8s}{9c}{10h}.
Some big hands of the day… RVS Cup champion Richard Marquez catapulted to the top of the charts with {kd}{ks} over {10h}{10c}. The double up sent the champ over a million. Jae Chang also picked up momentum when he first doubled up with {as}{kh} over {7d}{7s}. Randolph Acacio zoomed to 1.6 million with {qs}{qc} cleaning out a player with {as}{qh} that missed. The day ended with Mandeep Singh eliminating Jose Cheng in 19th place. Utg Cheng pushed preflop with {qs}{jh}, big blind Singh defended with {ks}{qd}. The final board of Day 2 was {10d}{6d}{jd}{ac}{8c}.
Rise of Jose Marco Espela
For the day’s closing chip leader Jose Marco Espela, he was awarded full pay for his {as}{ah} against {ks}{10h}, on a board {qc}{3h}{ad}{3s}{jc}, full house over straight. Another big hand for Espela was {ah}{qc} spiking the ace on the river to dust {jc}{js}. One of his final hands was {ad}{ah} prevailing over {kd}{jc} on board {qh}{kc}{6c}{8s}{10d}, with the shoves seen at the flop.
