Deep Structure, Boosted Guarantee, It’s Time For PPT 2024!

The wait is finally over, the 2024 Philippine Poker Tournament (PPT) kicks off today! Staying true to the Metro Card Club’s commitment to bringing players the best experience, this year’s guaranteed prize pool has been bumped up one extra million, setting the starting pot at a whopping ₱4 Million (~$71,000). 

To peak player interest even more, this is a deep structured tournament with starting stack at 25,000, which is 250x the opening 100-100 blinds. Entering early is highly suggested as long lines are expected. A new element has also been added, the 30 second Shot Clock will be introduced at the Final Table. Finalists will be given five time-banks of 30 seconds each.

The PPT runs January 31 to February 5, 2024. Buy in is ₱4,500 (~$80) with six Day 1 flights scheduled. This gives plyers plenty of chances to qualify into the next stage.

Through the years, the PPT has become one of the country’s most sought after events. For newcomers, it will be an experience for the books as Metro events always deliver a full house. Last year, the PPT generated a record 686 entries with Jharome Pena turning his small buy in into a huge ₱1,040,520 (~$19K), his largest cash to date.

William Ysmael wins PPT Pre-Event

To get the players warmed up was a ₱500K guaranteed Pre-Event running on January 29 to 30. No stranger to winning, Metro Team Pro William Ysmael outlasted the 143 entry field of the Pre-Event. He came from behind at heads up, grinding down Jose Ruzzel to win the Pre- Event for a payout of ₱126,333 (~$2,243). The final hand was {9d}{9h} over {ac}{kc} on a board{2d}{6c}{5c}{jh}{3h}.
