Philippine Poker Tournament kicks off! January 29 to February 5

It’s time again for the Philippine Poker Tournament (PPT), the Metro Card Club’s first big festival of the new year! Now in its fifth edition, the week-long event will be richer than ever with the prize pool boosted up a mil to PHP 4 million (~US$ 71K).

The PPT kicks off on Monday, January 29, 2024, and runs through February 5. It is one of the Metro’s most beloved low-stakes tournament with buy in at just PHP 4,500 (~USD 80).

Tournament structure

Through the years, the PPT has grown in popularity to earn its reputation as a must-attend on the poker calendar. For newcomers, it will be an experience for the books as Metro events always deliver the largest turnouts in the country.

At last year’s edition, the PPT generated a record 686 entries with Jharome Pena turning his small buy in into a huge PHP 1,040,520 (~$19K), his largest cash to date.

Countdown to Showdown: Pre-Event Warm-Up

To set the stage, players have the opportunity to warm up at the Pre-Event featuring a PHP 500,000 prize pool. This precursor to the PPT not only offers a chance to fine-tune strategies but also to build one’s bankroll early.

The Pre-Event kicks off on opening day, running January 29-30, 2024. Two flights are offered. Buy in is PHP 4,000 (~US$ 71). Starting stack is 20,000.
