Battle has begun! Batang Metro Poker Challenge 5M gtd underway – August 16 to 21, 2023

The moment has arrived, the Batang Metro Poker Challenge is underway at the Metro Card Club! The much awaited event kicked off at 3pm today, August 16, and will run until August 21, 2023. This is the third installment of the series and it is the richest, boasting a PHP 5,000,000 (~USD 87,785) guarantee, which is a whopping two million more than previous.

With cards flying, the screens flashed an impressive 134 entries within the first four levels of Day 1A. Still plenty of time to jump in with registration closing at the start of Level 11, approximately 8:30pm.

Among the players getting an early start were Vince Nachor, Mark Pagsuyuin, Randy Cirineo, Monzair Villariaza, and Metro Team Pro Jimmie Javier. 

More notables are expected, if not today then on the ensuing Day 1 flights with a total of five scheduled. Buy in for the event is PHP 10,000 (~USD 175).

A brief background on the BMPC, it is one the younger events in the Metro calendar. Literally defined as “Child of Metro”, the title is of special significance. Through the years, the Metro has produced world class players that have gone on to inspire other locals.

Since its inception, the BMPC has crowned two winners, USA’s John Francis King  in 2019 for PHP 540,863 and Lester Edoc (pictured above) in 2022 for PHP 1,124,920. The next champion could be YOU!
