09 Dec Metro Christmas Special: Jun Mondalo commands Day 1B; another 30 advance; Mateo still leads; qualifiers list inside
The Metro Card Club saw a larger turnout at the ₱5 Million guaranteed Christmas Special with Day 1B seeing 86 runners head to the felt. Combined with Day 1A’s 49 entries, the event has now drawn a cumulative 135 entries. With buy in at ₱16,500 (~$295), it is looking like uber-great value for players as an overlay is possible with only one entry day remaining.
Bagging up a substantial lead at the end of Day 1B was Bonifacio “Jun” Mondalo with a 172 BB stack. This was 51 BB ahead of his closest challenger Crispin Eilif Rovere. Overall, Day 1A chip leader Christopher “bigtime” Mateo continues to hold the torch with a 185 BB stack. Other notable players making the cut via this heat were Metro’s multi-decorated Noel Araniel, WPT Prime Cambodia Main Event 3rd placer Junnie Pamplona, and Metro livestream commentator Jester Intia.

With two starting days in the books, only one entry day left to join the qualifiers and have a chance at the ₱5,000,000 prize pool. Day 1C runs on Friday, December 9 starting at 3pm. Players start with a 50,000 stack which is 500 times the opening big blind. Blinds increase every 40 minutes. Day 1 bags up at the end of Level 11. For those that have already qualified, the Metro will also be teeming with cash games of varying stakes suitable for every bankroll.
