Jason Kyle Magbanua wins the Metro 2M GTD!

After nine hours of final day play, Jason Kyle Magbanua became the newest Metro champion, defeating Jessie Trance in over two hours of heads up. Magbanua shipped the enormous Php 800,000 first prize and earned a seat to the upcoming Asia Poker Championship worth Php 44,000 entry. Congratulations to the champion!!

During the two hours and twenty minutes of intense heads up, Jessie Trance lost his lead and was down to just 10 BB to Jason Kyle Magbanua’s 40 BB. He was all in with {8d}{7d}, Magabanua challenged with {kh}{2c}, the board ran {qs}{10s}{qd}{kd}{6h} to fall in 2nd place. This was Trance’s deepest ever run at a Metro event. He earned Php 443,400 and a seat worth Php 44,000 to the Asia Poker Championship.

8:00PM: Darwin Santelices succumbs in 3rd place – Php 270,000

After nursing a short stack for most of the final table and finding a couple of spots to chip up, Darwin Santelices’ laddering up was finally put to an end with Jessie Trance cleaning him out. Santelices was all in with {kd}{4c}, Trance called with {kc}{7c}, the board was {6h}{7d}{2s}{10d}{3s}. Santelices earned Php 270,000 for 3rd place and a seat worth Php 44,000 to the Asia Poker Championship in August.


6:35pm: Jester Intia dominated by Magbanua – 4th place – Php 170,000
Level 30: 35K-70K-10K ante

From utg Jester Intia shoved his 20 BB stack with {ah}{jc}, second chip leader Jason Kyle Magbanua called with {ad}{kh}. With the board running {qh}{9h{3c}{5h}{7s}, Intia’s bid for the title was denied in 4th place. He collected Php 170,000. Magbanua catapulted to the top spot.


5:40pm: Wilfredo Ablola eliminated in 5th place – Php 110,000
Level 29: 30K-60K-10K ante

From utg, Wilfredo Ablola moved all in for 760k and {ah}{10h} in the hole, Jessie Trance called with {7h}{7c}, then Jester Intia went on a spiel before tank-folding {ad}{kh}. At the showdown, the board ran {7d}{6d}{qs}{qd}{5d} for a crushing full house to Trance and 5th place for Ablola. He earned Php 110,000 for his deep run.


5:20pm: No deal

The five remaining players discussed an ICM deal that was ultimately rejected. Game continues!


5:10pm: Christopher Pasion outdrawn in 6th place – Php 77,500
Level 28: 25K-50K-5K ante

Another battle of the blinds, small blind Christopher Pasion called off for all his chips with {kc}{qc} which was ahead of pusher big blind Jason Kyle Magbanua with {kh}{6h}. With the flop running {6s}{10h}{8d}, Magbanua jumped out front with a pair, and with the turn {6c}, Pasion was drawing dead. Pasion exited in 6th place for Php 77,500.


4:40pm: Marco Espela eliminated in 7th place – Php 57,500
Level 28: 25K-50K-5K ante

Action folds around to the blinds, Jester Intia raised to 105K with {ac}{ad}, short stacked Marco Espela defended with {9d}{6d}. At the flop {9c}{2s}{9h}, Intia c-bet 170k, Espela quickly called for his trips. The turn {ah} saw both players check their big hands it to bring the river {qh}. Intia put Espela all in, and Espela called for his tournament life. When the cards were turned over, Espela saw his demise and packed up in 7th place.


4:00pm: John Tech eliminated in 8th place – Php 47,500
Level 27: 20K-40K-5k ante

Battle of the blinds with Christopher Pasion {as}{9c} giving big blind John Tech {qc}{jc} a sweat. With the board running {10c}{5h}{2c}{2h}{3s}, Tech drop out first in 8th place for Php 47,500.


3:44pm: Jester Intia doubles up through Tech
Level 27: 20K-40K-5k ante

Ailing stacked Jester Intia found the right time to get it all in with {ad}{ah} called by John Tech {qc}{jc}. The board further improved Intia to a full house {kd}{ac}{5d}{kh}{ks} to ship a double up to around 450k.


3:00pm: Final table formed

Running simultaneously as the bust below, Darwin Santelices called John Tech’s shove and opened {ac}{as}. Tech sheepishly showed his {ks}{9d}. The board dropped a nine to pair up Tech but with no other cards coming to help, Santelices shipped a full double up t0 around 1.7M. Tech dropped to 450k.


2:55pm: Ginbert De Villa plunges to 9th place – Php 37,500

It took three consecutive hands before Ginbert De Villa finally succumbed in 9th place. His first shove was {ah}{kh} outdrawn by Wilfredo Ablola {as}{jh} with the board running a sick four card flush {10d}{js}{3s}{ks}{2s}. Down below 1 BB, De Villa won the next hand with pocket Threes and went all in with {3h}{2h}. Marco Espela followed with a jam {qc}[qd} that found no callers. The board ran {ac}{7d}{10d}{10h}{qh}.


2:50pm: Jester Intia triples up but still short

Button player Jester Intia was all in with 84K, the blinds called then checked down the board {qh}{8d}{qc}{ah}{jc}. Intia had {8c}{7d} for a winning two pair and a triple up to 302K (6 BB).


2:45pm: Marco Espela doubles up through De Villa

Small blind Ginbert De Villa jammed with {kh}{5c}, big blind Marco Espela risked his short 300k stack and called with {qh}{10h}. When the board ran {kd}{9s}{qd}{10s}{2s} it was a winning two pair for Espela to survive and double up to 650k.


2:30pm: Jester Intia down to 6 BB; Jessie Trance rising

Jessie Trance raised preflop and big blind Jester Intia defended. At the fl0p {8s}{kc}{5d}, Intia counted out his stack while ranting out a small speech then laid out around half amounting to 355k. This was immediately met with a shove from Trance. Intia tanked asking if Trance hit the king, Trance said he had better. Intia folded while showing his {8c} mid pair, Trance returned the gesture showing {as}{ad}. Trance increased to 2.4M. Intia down to 6 BB.


2:25pm: Marvin Cerbito outdrawn into 10th place – Php 37,500

Marvin Cerbito jammed his 511k stack with {5h}{5s}, three spots over Jason Kyle Magbanua called with {ac}{qc}. The flip went the caller’s way as the card dropped {qd}{6d}{3c}{4d}{8c}. Magbanua shipped it to climb to 2.07M and Cerbito filed out in 10th place. Cerbito earned Php 37,500 for his run.

10 players remaining. One of the day’s entering chip leader, Jessie Trance, holds command with a massive 2.14M stack (53.5 BB). Average stack is 951K is 23.7 BB.


2:00pm: Federick Cruz out in 11th place – Php 32,500

Federick Cruz was down to his last 82k and put it all out front with {ad}{kc} to battle with. He was called by two players, Jessie Trance and big blind Darwin Santelices. At the flop {2h}{5c}{2d}, no side pot was generated. On the turn {7c} Trance bet 150k, Santelices check-folded. Trance had {ah}{2s} trips. The rier {10s} completed the board and Cruz left the scene. He collected Php 32,500 for 11th place.


1:55pm: Audrey Anthony Ozaeta booted in 12th place – Php 32,500

Bad day for one of the day’s entering chip leader Audrey Anthony Ozaeta who couldn’t win a single hand. One of his first big losses was on a failed bluff against Ginbert De Villa then later another chunk to Jason Kyle Magbanua. He finally got it all in with {ah}{6h} and got called by Wilfredo Abola with {ad}{kc}. No help came on the board to finish Ozaeta”s day in 12th place. He earned Php 32,500.


1:48pm: Adrian Reyes ladders up to 13th place – Php 32,500

Adrian Reyes entered the final day as the shortest stack with just 6.5 BB. He managed to reach the next pay jump before getting it all in with {3c}{3h}. Initial raiser Chris Pasion called with {ad}{qd}. When the flop ran {jh}{ks}{10s}, it was a nuts straight for Pasion. The turn {7h} sealed the win for Pasion as Reyes packed up in 12th place. Reyes collected Php 32,500. Pasion up to 850k.


1:38pm: Muammar Manabilang busts in 14th place – Php 27,500

After getting chunked down to just 1 BB, Muammar Manabilang proceeded to win two shoves but on his third, it was the end. He was all in with {kc}{jc}, Darwin Santelices had {7h}{7s}, the board ran dry {4d}{9c}{2s}{8c}{10h}. Santelices shipped it, Manabilang shipped out in 14th place and collected Php 27,500.

Preflop action saw a raised pot and two players staring down a flop {8c}{8d}{qd}. No bets landed, the turn {9s}, betting war led to both all in. Jester Intia had a straight {jc}{10c}, Muammar Manabilang with {ac}{as}. The river {5c} was not one of the four outs Manabilang needed to pay a double up to Intia and drop to just 1 BB.


1:20pm: Jonald Garcia eliminated in 15th place – Php 27,500

Jonald Garcia was all in with {as}{ks} and was challenged by Chris Pasion with {7s}{7c}. The board spread {9h}{4h}{10s}{6c}{7s} for a set and the win for Pasion. Garcia busted in 15th place for Php 27,500.


1:15pm: Marco Espela doubles off De Villa

After picking up a nice pot off the Ozaeta, Ginbert De Villa raised 75k from cutoff, button player Marco Espela three-bet all in, De Villa called. De Villa was ahead with {2c}{2s} against Espela’s {as}{9c}, however with an ace on the flop, it improved Espela and held for a double up.


1:12pm: Lester Timonera falls in 16th place – Php 27,500
Level 26: 15K-30K-30K ante bb

First casualty of the day was Lester Timonera who three-bet shoved {as}{qh}, got called by Jessie Trance with {9d}{9c}. Initial raiser Jonald Garcia opted to fold. The board ran {9s}{8s}{7d}{7s}{3h}. Trance up to 1.3M. Timonera packed up and collected Php 27,500 for 16th place.


1:10pm: Ginbert De Villa takes a chunk from the leader

Second hand of the day at table 24 went to Ginbert De Villa who called out Audrey Anthony Ozaeta’s river bluff bet with top pair. Ozaeta opened with {qc}{jc}, big blind De Villa called. At the flop {1-0s}{9s}{6c}, Ozaeta c-bet and got called. On the turn {2h} no bets landed. The river {7d}, De Villa check-called 180k and shipped it with {js}{10h}. Ozaeta down to 750k. De Villa up to 1.2M.
