01 Jul Jessie Trance amasses a monster stack at Metro 2M GTD Day 1B; another 21 players advance
Day 1B of the Metro Walk to a Million pulled in nearly double opening day’s turnout with 130 charging the felt for a chance at the Php 2M guaranteed prize pool. Many fell during the 14 rounds of scheduled play, leaving only 21 players at bagging time. The chip leader could not be missed as local player Jessie Trance sat on an enormous stack of 325,600. This was equivalent to 108 times the Day 2 opening big blind. Trance easily overtook Day 1A chip leader Jeffrey Estanislao for the top spot in the combined qualifiers list.
Also staying afloat in Day 1B were notable players John Tech (51 BB), William Ysmael (30 BB), Jose Marquez Cheung (28 BB) who is looking to add another title to the two he won at the APT Philippines festival last May, and Edgar Asehan who has been running deep at many of the country’s biggest tournaments this year. Asehan recently placed 2nd at the Asia Poker Championship and is back at the Metro to redeem himself. He bagged up a decent 22 BB stack.
The day’s survivors join the 11 from Day 1A to bring the cumulative Day 2 count to 32 players. They return on Sunday, July 3 at 1pm.
