24 Apr Final 16 players of the Metro Summer Event! Dek Cruz and Christopher Mateo lead the race
It was a quick Day 2 at the 2022 Metro Summer Event with the 69 player field trimmed to the final 16 in just four hours. Dek Cruz closed out the heat bagging the mightiest stack of 1,006,000, and was the only player to end with seven digits. Cruz was a wrecking ball throughout. One of his busts was cracking Jimmie Javier‘s pocket Aces with 7-8 suited turned straight. To mark the end of Day 2, Cruz eliminated Jojo Ledina in 17th place with pocket Fours set against A-10 overcards that missed.
Also bagging up a big one was decorated local pro Christopher Mateo with 995,000 in chips. Mateo topped Day 1B and entered the heat fourth in stack. He stayed dominant throughout to drive his stack into second rank. Mateo is less than one BB behind the leader. It should be an exciting final race as both chip leaders are seated at the same table with Mateo having position over Cruz.
Other players to watch for are William Ysmael who maintained his big stack, decorated local pro Jessie Leonarez, Day 1D chip leader Ericson Ebilane, and John Clyde Tan who climbed from just 13 BB entering Day 2 to a spot in the final day.
