03 Feb The first Asian Poker Championship winner will be crowned today! Derrick Hernandez leads the final 18 players
The Asian Poker Championship will soon be crowning its first-ever Main Event champion as the final 18 players hunt down the title today. The past three days brought in a roaring 541 entries to the Metro Card Club. At Php 22,000 each, this more than crushed the advertised 5M guarantee for a much richer Php 10,495,400 (~US$ 205,700) prize pool. Due to its huge success, the Metro is thrilled to announce the next APC festival dates. The second installment will take place from April 15 to 19. Make sure to mark those dates down now!
Also happening at Day 2 was the money grab. Payouts began at 54th place however the owner of the largest cut worth Php 3,045,400 (~US$ 59,700) and the APC Championship trophy won’t be determined until today. We’ve got all the info, structure, remaining payouts, and chip counts for you below.

Day 2 recap
Reviewing the Day 2 results, it took only four hours for the field to trim the 102 players down to the final 18. In command were three players backed by over a million in chips. Derrick Hernandez bagged the largest of 1,454,000. This was a strong upswing for Hernandez who climbed from 10th rank. He enters the final day with 91 bbs to play with.
In second rank is the hot-running Florencio Campomanes who recently took down the coveted Red Dragon title. Campomanes enters the final day with a threatening 1,241,000 equivalent to 77 bbs. Due to the incredible consistency and performance he has displayed, Campomanes will be favored to take down this tournament.
And in third rank is Kim Sun Kyum with 1,158,000, equivalent to 72 bbs. Kim had the most impressive rise in Day 2 going from 41st rank to the top three. Kim is one of seven KMGM players that advanced to the final day.
In addition to the race leaders, the starting day chip leaders also made it through. Day 1B and overall leader Seung Min Kang remained strong closing Day 2 running 4th in chips with 712,000, Day 1A’s Joven Huerto with 163,500, and Day 1C’s Christopher Mateo with 63,500.
