Noel Araniel wins the inaugural APC Main Event!
Congratulations to Noel “the Kid” Araniel! He is the first-ever Asian Poker Championship Main Event champion! Araniel’s rise happened during the final four where he got lucky on Mike Takayama, then railed Emmanuel Segismundo to earn the chip lead for the first time. He faced Martin Gonzales for the title. Gonzales held the chip lead throughout the day until heads up. Araniel would not be broken. He defeated Gonzales in just 10 hands to pocket Php 1,525,877 and lift the first APC Championship trophy.

It’s all over! Martin Gonzales eliminated on a failed bluff! Heads up hand #10, Gonzales raised to 150k, Araniel called. On the flop {5c}{7c}{ad}, Araniel check-called 200k. On the turn {2h}, Gonzales fired 600k, and Araniel check-called again. On the river {2h}, Araniel checked, Gonzales went all in, Araniel called. Gonzales showed {8h}{5s} pair, Araniel shipped it with {as}{8s} top pair.

Immediately after Takayama departed, it was Emmanuel Segismundo bumping the rail. He pushed on the button with {kc}{8h} and was called by both Noel Araniel and Martin Gonzales. The board ran {4d}{6s}{8c}{2d}{9d} with no bets by either player. Araniel showed {ks}{9h} to end Segismundo’s run in 3rd place.

After getting chunked down by Araniel, Mike Takayama was forced all in on his big blind with {10h}{9h} and was called by button Martin Gonzales and sb Emmanuel Segismundo. At the flop {ah}{3s}{5h}, Gonzales shoved, Segismundo check-folded. Gonzales had {2h}{5c} pair, Takayama {10h}{9h} flush draw. The turn {4d} and river {5s} favored Gonzales to end Takayama in 4th place.

Another victory on home soil denied for Florencio Campomanes however a 5th place finish here is still very impressive. Campomanes three-bet all in with {kc}{qd} and initial raiser Martin Gonzales called with {10d}{10c}. The flip favored the chip leader Gonzales as it ran {qs}{7s}{10s}{7c}{as} for a crushing full house.

Derrick Hernandez is the first to depart from this final 6 table. He pushed with {as}{8d} called by bb Mike Takayama with {ah}{9h}. The board ran a wild {9c}{9d}{ad} instant full house for Takayama. The turn {10s} and river {8s} didn’t bring about a possible split pot. Hernandez out in 6th place.

It was Florencio Campomanes’s time to get lucky. He pushed it all with {ks}{10c}, Emmanuel Segismundo and Derrick Hernandez called. On the flop {7c}{6h}{10d}, Segismundo shoved, Hernandez folded to bring about a showdown between Campomanes and Segismundo. Segismundo had {ac}{10s}. Both players with top pair, Segismundo higher kicker. The turn {7s} kept Segismundo ahead but when the river landed {kd}, Campomanes shipped a triple up to 480k.

Seokyoung Lee aka Tiger was sent out in shock by chip leader Martin Gonzales on a set over set hand. It opened with Tiger raising from mid-position, called by button Gonzales and bb Emmanuel Segismundo. At the flop {jh}{10d}{6c}, Segismundo checked, Tiger c-bet 50k, Gonzales raised to 190k, Segismundo folded, Tiger jammed, called by Gonzales.

Catching the action on a flop {10s}{9s}{4d} and over 200k in the pot, hijack Kim Sun Kyum bet a small 30k, cutoff Emmanuel Segismundo jammed 240k, Kim tank-folded for Segismundo to claim the pot.

Despite a couple of double ups, Seungjun Kim aka Judic still couldn’t take it any further than 14th place. He three-bet pushed with {as}{10d} and initial raiser Florencio Campomanes called with {ah}{jh}. No help came on the board for Judic.

Seung Min Kang is staging a comeback and has brought his stack from 6 bbs to 20 bbs in two double ups. With 72k left he pushed with {kh}{8h} and got called by Florencio Campomanes on the big blind with {5h}{3h}. Both players got a piece of the board {jd}{3s}{8c}{6d}{7c}, and with a higher pair, Kang shipped it.
The next double up he had 174k and pushed with {qc}{10h}. Hyunkook Shin called with {ad}{js}, the board was kind to Kang as it ran {6d}{qh}{4d}{5d}{jh}. Kang up to 400k.

Doctor Strange all in with {qh}{10c} and was looked up by Hyunkook Shin with better {ac}{jc}, when the flop ran {qc}{4s}{9c}, the Doc jumped ahead, but with the turn {7c} and river {10d}, Shin had a commanding flush to rail Doc in 15th place.

Martin Gonzales continues to bring plenty of action to the felt. Prior to this hand, he won a sizable pot against Florencio Campomanes to bring the dragon slayer down to around 800k. This time it was Seung Min Kang taking a beating. Catching the action on a board {3d}{9s}{8d}{2d} with around 230k in the pot, Gonzales bet 80k, and Kang check-called. On the river {9d}, Kang led for 240k, Gonzales raised to 640k, Kang called. Gonzales showed {3h}{3c} full house for the pot. Gonzales up to 1.95m, Kang down to 122k.

Christopher Mateo took a hard fall against Tiger Lee whose luck coontinued. Mateo raised, Lee shoved, Mateo called for his tournament life. Mateo {jc}{js}, Tiger {qd}{10h}, the cards ran {ac}{2d}{jd} for a set to Mateo but the turn and river burned him {7d} and {kd} for a winning flush to Tiger. Mateo out in 16th place. Tiger up to 450k.

Another two players getting a full boost in stack here. Noel Araniel was first to ship it. He was all in with [10s][10h] on a flop {4h}{6c}{8h}, Kim Sun Kyum called with {qs}{jh} overcards. The turn {2c} and river {10d} were duds for Kim. Araniel doubled up to over 400k.
Following that hand, Seokyoung Lee aka Tiger got lucky on Emmanuel Segismundo to stay in the running. Tiger all in with {ac}{8h}, Segismundo had him dominated with {as}{qd}, the board came {5d}{kh}{8c}{ah}{6s} for two pair to Tiger to around 180k.
