GENO GENDRANO SETS THE PACE AT THE MSE 3M MAIN EVENT; MARQUEZ AND SIA THROUGH; DAY 1B UP NEXT

The summer heat is definitely on! Marked as one of the hottest days of the year so far, nothing could be more perfect than spending it at the Metro Card Club for the biggest event of the summer. Setting sail today was Day 1A of the Metro Summer Event 3 Million Guaranteed Main Event with 137 runners lighting up the felt.

There were many familiar faces scattered around the room. Last year’s champion Joseph Sia was one of them. He pulled through and bagged up 36,900. As expected, PPPoker World Championship winner, Richard Marquez, was also in action. He finished very strong with 216,000. However, both of these champions were overshadowed by Geno Gendrano who topped the 18 survivors with a towering 323,100 stack. Breaking it down, that’s equivalent to 21 starting stacks amassed.

This was indeed a very solid showing by Gendrano who is on the hunt for his first-ever championship title. He is at the helm of the Day 2 list and is the player to catch up to. All of today’s qualifiers return on Sunday, April 14 at 1pm. For players intending to attempt for multiple stacks, keep in mind only your best stack moves forward. For those that missed the mark today, no fret as we have three more starting heats remaining.

With one starting day in the books, up next is Day 1B. This is the second of four starting heats offered. Buy-in is P6,500  (~US$125) with unlimited re-entries. The 3M Guaranteed Main Event runs from April 10 until a winner emerges on April 15. 18 players have already advanced to Day 2. See schedule below.

Day 1A: Wednesday, April 10 – 18 advanced out of 137 entries
Day 1B: Thursday, April 11
Day 1C: Friday, April 12
Day 1D: Saturday, April 13

All starting days kick off at 3pm sharp. Blinds begin at 25-50 with increases every 30 minutes. Starting stack is a very healthy 15,000 which is about 300x the opening big blind. Registration closes at the first deal of Level 10, roughly five hours from the starting gun. Regulation play resumes until the end of Level 15.

For players that make it through to the next stage, Day 2 is on Sunday, April 14. Keep in mind starting time is 1pm from here on. Blinds increase every 40 minutes. The Final Day is on Monday, April 15 at 1pm. Once the final table is reached – 10 players – the blinds will increase to 60 minute intervals.
