23 May DAY 1C ENDS WITH VICTOR MIRANDA UP TOP; MORE PROS ADVANCE; LAST STARTING DAY UP NEXT
Friday poker fever lit up at the Metro Card Club with 130 entrants roaring in for Day 1C of the Metro Summer Event 3M Guaranteed Main Event. For many, it was an unfortunate walk to the rail but for 20 players, it was their ticket to the next stage of the race.
Among the players bagging up chips were well known pros Lester Edoc and Euryd Rivera. 2018 RVS Cup champion Marco Almerez also made the cut. However their stacks were not nearly as hefty as chip leader Victor Miranda. Miranda racked up 178,400 slightly edging Jeffrey Calma (174,200) for the high chair. He has now overtaken Marvin Cerbito (Day 1B leader) for third rank into Day 2.

Three starting days in the books, and if you haven’t qualified into Day 2 then head to the felt on Saturday, April 13 for Day 1D. This is your last chance to show what you got and join the 55 players through to the next stage. Buy-in is P6,500 (~US$125) with unlimited re-entries. Registration closes at the start of Level 10, that’s a five-hour cushion from the first deal to sign up. Here’s a look at the numbers:
Day 1A: Wednesday, April 10 – 18 advanced out of 137 entries
Day 1B: Thursday, April 11 – 17 advanced out of 89 entries
Day 1C: Friday, April 12 – 20 advanced out of 130 entries
Day 1D: Saturday, April 13
A brief review of the structure, blinds open at 25-50 with increases every 30 minutes. Starting stack is a very healthy 15,000 which is 300x the starting big blind. Once registration closes, regulation play continues until the end of Level 15.
For players that make it through to the next stage, Day 2 is on Sunday, April 14. Remember, starting time is 1pm from here on. Blinds increase every 40 minutes. The Final Day is on Monday, April 15 at 1pm. Once the final table is reached – 10 players – the blinds will increase to 60 minute intervals.
