The METRO SUMMER SERIES, a series of poker tournaments hosted by your one and only card room The Metro Card Club, ended last weekend with the hugely successful Team Poker Tournament that brought 19 teams (a total of 95 players) playing for a pot of P285,000 and bragging rights as the best poker team in the country. After a whole day of intense poker shootout action, the winners were finally crowned!
Here are the winners of the team tournament:

Before the team tournament, there was the First METRO HEADS-UP CHAMPIONSHIP with a P160,000 guaranteed prize pool. The event started with 32 players battling in hard-fought heads-up battles, eventually ending with the final four poker players, all of whom were veteran poker players in their own right. Last man standing and multiple poker championship title holder Eric Mendoza (P70,000) ended up beating Nicky Filart (P40,000) for the title of Heads-up Champion. Semi Finalists were Metro Players Neil Arce (222nd place, WSOP 2007 main event) and Miguel Cuneta (who won P25,000 each.)
The Ladies Tournament had the women players from the local poker scene battle it out for the title of The Metro Ladies Champion plus a big chunk of the P50,000 guaranteed prize pool. Myla Casasola ended up besting the field and winning the championship.
The first tournament of the series was the Metro Tournament of Champions, which featured champions from all previous major Metro Tournament. As expected, the veteran sharks of the poker tables at Metro came to show who the real champion really is.When the dust finally settled, Philip Abadilla emerged as the first Metro Champion of Champions! This fine player already has two Metro75 championship titles under his belt, and is a common face in any final table of the major metro tournaments.
