Neil Arce Wins Metro 3 Million / Filipino Poker Tour 3 Event
At the METRO 3 Million main event last sunday night, Neil Arce, known in the local poker scene as “Dirty Ice Cream”, beat out a field of 111 of poker’s finest minds en route to his first FPT Championship, a P3 Million Peso Guaranteed Tournament hosted by The Metro Card Club, the best poker room in the country. The final table was perhaps the most star-studded of any that can be remembered in the local poker scene’s history. It included Franco Mabanta (4th place, one of the most successful local high stakes poker players), Ronald Singson ( 3rd place, world ranked poker player and APPT Manila money-finisher), ( 2nd place, Successful high stakes online and cash player and also an APPT money finisher), Ed Marcelo ( 5th place, consistent tournament finisher and WPT Philippines 4th place finisher), among others. Notably, the top 5 players were all exclusive METRO players, and can be found in the METRO almost everyday playing high stakes cash games and touornaments. Neil, who was at one point on the verge of elimination, showed masterful play once he finally obtained a sizable chip stack which led to his epic comeback in his heads-up match with Erick Sia
Neil Arce earned his place in local poker history as the first ever Local Filipino player to cash the World Series of Poker in 2007 at 222nd place out of 6,500+ poker professionals, winning over $50,000 in the process. His win in this tournament probably ranked up there in his list of accomplishments as he bested the best final table full of players he considers his peers.
Arce’s payday of P1.1 Million for winning the tournament included a seat to Pokerstars APPT Manila 2008 worth $2,500, which was one of the bigget payouts in local poker, representing the continued growth and popularity the sport today. He said all throughout the tournament: “i don’t have a chip lead right now and im even kind of short stacked, but i know i’m going to win this tournament.”
He turned out to be right all along.

There wasn’t nearly enough white factor at that final table. All the good players were out, only the lucky players got in to the top 10!
